Executive Director - LHS

The Lorain Historical Society, a non-profit organization, seeks an experienced, mission-driven Executive Director to lead operations, drive fundraising efforts, manage staff and volunteers, oversee programs and collections, and strengthen community engagement. The Executive Director works closely with the Board of Trustees to guide strategic planning, ensure financial stability, and advance the organization’s mission to preserve and share local history.

Key Responsibilities:

● Provide organizational leadership.
● Oversee daily operations including staff supervision and Human Resource responsibilities.
● Manage finances, budgets, reporting, and compliance.
● Lead fundraising efforts, including grants, sponsorships, and donor relations.
● Oversee exhibits, collections, and educational programs.
● Build community partnerships and serve as the organization’s spokesperson.
● Work closely with the Board to maintain effective governance and organizational vitality.

Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
● Minimum 3-5 years of leadership experience in a museum, archival, cultural, or nonprofit setting.
● Demonstrated success in fundraising, grant writing, and relationship-building.
● Strong organizational, financial, and communication skills.
● Knowledge of museum standards or historic preservation a plus.
● Experience with collections management, exhibitions, and/or educational programing a plus.

Additional Information

Salary

Salary range $65,000 - $75,000 commensurate with experience.
