International City Project: Oral History Initiative

The goal of the International City Project Oral History Initiative is to document, highlight, and celebrate the vast cultural diversity found in the city of Lorain. We want people to share their traditions relating to their heritage and their experiences within the communities where they were raised. We want to document the experiences of the many ethnic groups in the city so that we may be reminded of the beauty of our differences, learn how we can all be better neighbors, and work towards rebuilding our International City.

The Lorain Historical Society is taking appointments for individual interviews and scheduling special sessions for community organizations. If you are interested in participating in the oral history program, would like more information, or belong to organization that would like to host an oral history session for your members, please contact us at (440) 245-2563.

The Lorain Historical Society would like to thank the Community Foundation of Lorain County for their funding of the International City Project: Oral History Initiative and exhibit. They are also grateful to their community partners The Lorain Public Library System, The Lorain International Festival Committee, and the Lorain Morning Journal for their continued support of this project.
