Teaching Lorain Institute

October 20 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Fall Faculty Happy Hour! Come explore local content with Lorain’s own community experts and enjoy a libation with us!

Teaching Lorain is sponsoring the Fall Faculty Happy Hour sessions as a way to cultivate discussion and engagement in topics relevant to the success of educators, their students, and the community.  Our team will take a more in-depth look at the themes and curricular touchpoints that arise from the group to construct classroom strategies, unit outlines, and future Teaching Lorain Institutes. We’re looking forward to seeing last year’s cohort back in person so we’re hoping you can join us and bring a friend!  We need you – we need your voice!

Note:  Refreshments and a $5.00 drink ticket will be provided.  It is not necessary to commit to attending each one of the fall sessions to participate.  Reservations are requested by sending an e-mail to: [email protected]

The History of Ethnicity, Race, and Equity in Lorain

This year Teaching Lorain Institute is an exploration of the history of ethnicity, race, and equity in Lorain. The program focuses on the immigrant and migrant groups who came to Lorain through the 20th century, the changing ethnic and economic landscape brought on by industry, federal housing policies, and the challenges of creating and maintaining equity.

The History of Ethnicity, Race, and Equity in Lorain will begin on Saturday, January 21 from 9:00 – 3:00 and will continue with three Thursday evening sessions from 4:00 – 6:00 on February 9, March 9, and April 13.
